Matazeez Penne

Main Course


  • 4 Tbsps Olive Oil
  • 1 medium Onion, finely minced
  • 1 whole Cinnamon Stick
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 1 Lumi (Dried Lemons)
  • 3 Garlic Cloves, mashed
  • 1/2 kg Boneless Meat, chopped into medium cubes(you can use bone-in meat if you want)
  • 2 tsps Cumin – Coriander
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 kg Tomatoes, squeezed
  • 2 Tbsps Goody sieved tomatoes
  • Red or Green Bell Peppers, to taste
  • Salt, Black Pepper, and Crushed Pepper, to taste
  • 6 cups of Vegetable or Chicken Stocks
  • 1 large (Potato – Carrot – Zucchini), chopped into medium cubes
  • 1 can of Goody Whole-Wheat Pasta – Penne

For Garnish:

  • Parsley


    1. In a pot over medium heat, heat the oil and add the onions and the whole spices; stir together until the onions wilt; then reduce the heat and add the garlic; stir for 30 minutes.
    2. Add the meat cubes, the spices, and the sugar and stir together until the meat turns brown. Add the tomato juice, the sauce, the bell peppers, the salt and pepper; stir together for 5 minutes. Afterwards, add the stock and let the mixture boil for 30 minutes or until the meat is cooked.
    3. Add the vegetables to the mixture, and let them boil together for 15 minutes or until they are cooked well. Add the pasta and leave the mixture over the heat until the pasta is cooked; then garnish with parsley and serve.
