2 cans of Goody Grape Leaves, washed well

Filling Ingredients:

3 cups of Egyptian Rice

1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil

1 large Onion, finely minced

½ small cup of Mint

2 Tbsps Tomato Paste

1 tsp Salt

1 tsp Sugar

1 Tbsp Red Pepper, ground

½ tsp Cinnamon

½ cup of Pomegranate Molasses

1 ½ cup of Hot Water

Small Cupcake Pan

To Prepare the Filling:

  1. Marinate the rice for 10 minutes, then wash and drain it.
  2. Heat oil in a pot over medium heat, and then fry the onion pieces for 5 minutes until they wilt. Add mint, tomato paste, salt, sugar, pepper and cinnamon, and stir the mixture for 5 minutes. Afterwards, add the rice and 1/3 the amount of pomegranate molasses; continue to stir for 5 minutes, then add the hot water and leave the mixture to simmer for 15 minutes until the water dries out. Leave the filling aside to cool.

To Prepare the Grape Leaves:

  1. Roll out a grape leaf over a mold and then press it down to take shape of a bowl. Afterwards, add a spoon of the filling to each mold; then close it tightly from all four sides. Flip the mold and put your hand under it to take out the grape leaves; repeat the process until the amount runs out… arrange the grape leaves in a large pot, and add the remaining amount of pomegranate molasses and a little salt. Add an amount of water until the grape leaves are covered well, and then cover the pot and place a heavy dish over it in order to fix the grape leaves in place. Leave them over medium heat for 50 minutes or until they are cooked, then arrange the grape leaves in the serving dish. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and serve hot.
