Set a large saucepan with the olive oil over a medium heat. Cook the onion for 5 minutes, stir in the garlic and cook for 2 minutes more.

Add the carrots, celery and dried basil, cook for 2 minutes then add the beef tomatoes. Stir and season, pour in the sieved tomatoes and 200ml water.

Bring to a gentle simmer and add the ditalini pasta. Cook for 8 minutes.

Ladle into bowls and scatter with the parsley to serve.
