1 cup of yogurt milk

1 cup of warm water

1 cup of vegetable oil

1 egg

2 tbsps sugar

1 tbsp salt

1 tbsp mahlab, ground

1 tbsp instant yeast

6 cups of flour

To garnish the top:

1 cup of water

1 tbsp of Goody Honey, clear

1 kilo sesame, unroasted for garnish

  1. In a deep bowl, mix together the liquid ingredients (milk, water and oil).

2.In another bowl, add the dry ingredients (sugar, salt, mahlab, yeast and flour) then add the egg, stir until the mixture is combined, add the liquid ingredients and knead well for 10 minutes until you obtain a soft dough that does not stick to your hands.

3.Leave the dough in a warm place then cover it with nylon for an hour until it ferments and doubles in size.

4.Start the shaping process by cutting the dough into four sections then cut each section into four pieces so as to obtain small lemon-sized balls or large pieces to taste.

5.Spread each ball lengthwise to form a rope of dough, you will need two ropes to obtain a full bread.

6.Twist the two ropes together then close them in a form of a circle, fix the edges well so that it does not open during baking.

7.To garnish the top, melt the honey in a cup of water then put it in a deep bowl, prepare another dish and put the sesame.

8..Lift the dough gently, dip in the liquid honey then put it in the sesame dish to cover both sides of the dough.

9.Arrange it in the baking sheet and leave it to rest for 10 minutes.

10.Heat the oven at 160o C, bake the dough for 25 to 30 minutes or until it becomes golden, serve hot.
